Black Widow, Vol. 1: The Finely Woven Thread by Nathan Edmondson

5.0

What do you MEAN it's possible to write a female character who isn't overly sexualized and whose captors don't immediately pull out the rape threats (or even at ALL) and whose tragic backstory never hints at love and loss except when she's LYING about it to gain a target's trust, because that's what people EXPECT from such a character, and she's playing off that expectation? How dare they dress her sensibly for infiltration and espionage? How dare she be smart and thoughtful though not flawless? And how are there OTHER women??? that she interacts with?!??!? about things other than men!?! in a cOMIC BOOK? and these other women are spies or managers/directors or landladies or neighbors or pilots or accountants or criminals?!???

nope sorry, completely unrealistic, I can't buy the premise that something from a major studio, written and drawn by men, would refuse to succumb to any of the typical men-writing-female-character tropes, 0/5 stars

(Fantastic job, Mssrs. Edmondson and Noto. Can't wait for Vol. 2.)
