There's not much action in this book, nor does much happen in general. The book is all about characterization and relationships between the characters. From the developing love between Shawn and Brenna, to their relationships with their respective families, it's all about finding your place in the world and your place with the people who matter to you.
Given the lack of action, this book could have been boring, but instead, it's actually quite entertaining and a fun read.
