Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
5.0
I always forget how much the movies leave out until I reread these. While I love the movies, the books are so much better. Every time I read CATCHING FIRE, I go through it so quickly because I can’t put it down.
CATCHING FIRE is my favorite of the series because we get to see more of the districts and the Capitolbefore the actual war starts and before Katniss breaks, thanks to the victors’ tour. It’s interesting to see the Capitol’s hold over the people in the districts and in the Capitol itself.
The third Quarter Quell makes for some fun and tense dynamics. I thought it was interesting to learn more about previous years’ games and their victors. I love all the new characters, especially Finnick. I love the mechanism of the arena and wish we got to see what all the wedges hold.
I really enjoy the deeper, more adult, themes this series presents and how those themes make the reader think and feel.
