I was never surprised by what the author wrote about Mark but at the same time baffled that she was allowed to write it down.. I guess technically she wasn't which is some of the intrigue of the book. 

At about half way, I found myself asking, how has she not quit by now? She details circumstances that make sense, but on the other hand, when someone shows you who they are believe them the first time around.
