People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
4.0

Geraldine Brooks is one of my favorite historical fiction authors. [b:Year of Wonders|4965|Year of Wonders|Geraldine Brooks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327936622s/4965.jpg|3211895] is one of my favorite books of all time. The People of the Book told a fascinating story- true to the real Sarajevo Haggadah in details, it wove intricate fables about the potential sources and meanings behind the illuminations and other aspects of the book. As with all great historical fiction the book compelled me to look up more about the Haggadah and to study images of the illuminations. I learned so much about the migrations and experiences of Jews in the Middle Ages. Also about the Spanish and Italian Inquisitions. I highly recommend this book. It is a selection for one of my bookclubs and I recommend it for people looking for a good book club option (also as many copies are likely available at libraries).

The audible version was good, but some of the accents fell flat for me.
