I loved Ellie. She's such an intriguing fmc, full of determination and kindness. Very Cinderellaesque. She wants nothing more than to escape her step-mother and save her people.
And then there's Fin. He annoyed me about 95% of the time. He takes 'touch her and die' to a very unhealthy level. As though he'll kill every male who glances at her. Riiiiight dude. He's so many red flags in the worst possible way.
The romance didn't feel romantic or tender at any point, but a lot of hate sex.
However, I loved the story and the side characters a lot. The world building intrigued me and I look forward to the sequel.
The narrators did a WONDERFUL job. They both managed various voices well and I enjoyed listening to them.
