A Wild and Precious Life

A life well lived. I loved learning more about what the gay scene was in the 50's, and it was interesting to see how the gay community changed over the years. Even more interesting was the romantic relationships Eddie had, with Thea being the longest lasting. It was fun to hear all the romantic shenanigans she got into in her younger years, and I loved learning how they settled down in a romantic, permanent relationship. Knowing Eddie stayed with Thea after Thea lost more and more control of her body, and worked hard to make sure Thea had the best quality of life out of love was inspiring. I was heartbroken near the end when she lost her mother, brother, sister, and Thea one after the other. It's good that she found Judith near the end of her life. Also, I loved how the biographer also interviewed friends and family of Edith to explore things she did not have the chance to get into, as well as give greater context to other elements of her story.
