Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews
5.0

I've enjoyed every installment of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, but Magic Slays may be my favorite. The last two books seemed to be getting darker, and I feared the authors had decided to take the series down an angsty, depressing path. One where good never quite prevails and no character is safe. While Magic Slays is still dark and violent, Andrews is more liberal with the dry humor and truly funny quips we saw earlier in the series. The story in Magic Slays is exciting and extremely well executed. The characters continue to struggle with their troubled pasts and with their present relationships. And while there is forshadowing of difficult times ahead, I ended the book with a feeling of satisfaction. I can't wait for the next installment.
