Elevation by Stephen King
4.0

I am not much of an audio book person and I'm a very lapsed Stephen King fan, but I was browsing for something for my long run and stumbled on this at only four hours, and I thought it would be perfect. Plus, I'm a sucker for any and everything Castle Rock. This isn't exactly horror, although the King lens was there. I was getting deja-vu to Thinner, one of his earlier books. I appreciated the lens of current social topics, and how are prejudices are harmful to one another - and to ourselves. While I liked this, I left somewhat confused:
SpoilerI never understood what the incident was that caused Carey to shrink, nor why Deedee was safe. Did I miss something? I thought the sendoff was beautiful, and glad they were all there to see him off, especially in his final show. Maybe don't read / listen to this in public though. It got pretty teary at one point. Saying goodbye to friends is harder than to yourself.

Appreciated the connection with one of the events in the Gwendy Trilogy, another not exactly typical King, but definitely with a taste of him. And of course, Deirdre's race number was 19. It's always lurking somewhere.
