Seed by Ania Ahlborn

'Even he knew that if demons could exist, it meant there was real evil in the world, and if you believed in the devil, somewhere in the deepest fibers of your being you had to believe in God.'-Ania Ahlborn.

Seed is a dark tale about Jack, a father with a troubled past, and his family living in the Louisiana bayou. When they get into a car accident, Jack realises that what he has been running from his whole life might have finally caught up with him. And, to make matters worse, his youngest daughter starts to show signs that she might be able to see it too...

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel-it was spooky, entertaining and fast-paced. It's rich with imagery and child-possession, and the turns it takes towards the end stick in your memory. On top of that, there is humour sprinkled through, though never quite masking the sense of trepidation that lingers underneath. The middle does snag a little, but the ending makes it all worth it.
