wendy, darling is an incredibly well written book that brings a childhood desire into a whole new light. i loved peter pan growing up and the idea of neverland, a way to never get old and play forever seemed magical. as i got older, that kind of childhood dream of neverland became its own escape of peace and simplicity but this book turned it on its head.
wendy, darling takes that childhood romanticism of peter pan and the lost boys and adds a sinister, gothic twist. this change in the narrative is not only shocking but incredibly captivating. it feels like a step stone to adulthood nearly as you realise with wendy herself that neverland is not as remarkable as we remember.
i really enjoyed this book and i can’t wait to read hooked next!
