as promised, this book was cozy and healing. while it was def on the slower side, i love appreciating the slower things in life & its what i needed to start off this summer! i loved how the author presented the characters, showcasing their struggles, communicating with one another, and the character development they went through.
welcome to the hyunam-dong bookshop focuses on yeonju who, prior to the start of the book, decides to divorce her husband and follows her dream to open a bookshop. it took a while for the bookshop to gain a proper name and customers, but it was after she hired a barista, put more effort into what her customers would want, and form events, that her bookshop would gain more traction. yeonju was a fascinating character to read abt-i loved how the other characters would describe her passion for books & her recommendations that def ended up on my tbr.
the connections that formed throughout this book were so endearing to read abt! (the word connection reminds me of love island now
