I like this universe a lot. There’s something so satisfying about this fantastical city with Blade Runner vibes.
I don’t love every part of this book, but I’m rating this book so high because of the adrenaline rush it induced and the relationship between Danika and Bryce. The twists were brutal and shocking. I anticipated a few but was shocked by the majority.
I don’t completely love Hunt as a romantic interest, but I love most of these characters.
Looking forward to the next one. Light it up.

Graphic: Violence, Drug use, Torture, Slavery, Confinement, Death, Suicide attempt, and Gore
The gore in this book is pretty intense. I’m still unsure how I feel about the use of slavery in this novel, but unlike Throne of Glass, this one seems more thoughtfully used. There’s a lot more to interrogate here, especially with this white author and given the fact that this is fantasy. Just be aware.
