Earthlings

To be quite honest, I already knew of course that this book held shocking and basically very very bizarre scenes. I’ve heard people talk all about it and of course knowing me, I wanted to check it out myself. I read it, was pretty shocked, finished it, and that was it. In my most honest opinion, it didn’t leave me with basically anything. I wasn’t like “wow this was incredible”. No, as a matter of fact it left me indifferent and disappointed. Like “yeah that’s a book I read.” Sure I understand the message perfectly clear of how we are expected to perform our “duties” in society but I could’ve read any other book with the same meaning with hopes of it actually making me feel like I didn’t waste my time. The ending was just confusing to me and a bit lazy. I do feel horrible for the main character, that’s a fact. But I felt putting in “those”specific details was just beyond unnecessary. Like I could’ve gone on with life without reading THAT and I’d still be fine. This honestly feels like another “The Painted Bird” situation where you can talk about how cruel people can be but there is a line where you do NOT cross. Not sure what the hype was about but definitely not worth your time. Needless to say, I neither hated it nor liked it. Just another book in my shelf.
