An early Dostoevsky. A lot going on in this, to the point that I sometimes struggled to follow the storylines. Yes, they are interwoven, but Dostoevsky sets them up as their own thing before revealing their connections at the end. So up until the end it made me feel a little lost trying to keep track of them all in my head.

An interesting ending that calls forward to Crime and Punishment in its religious nature (but not in its tragic nature).

A good book for Dostoevsky completionists, but unless you really like this era of literature I’m not sure you’ll be able to stick it out.

(This edition is also terrible. Would not recommend at all.)
