imanisun 's review for:
To Kill a Mockingbird
by Harper Lee
After reading it in 7th grade review:
It's funny. Most times when I read classics like this book, Oliver Twist, War of the Worlds, Of Mice and Men, etc. etc. they always get 4 stars. I don't think that half of them even deserve that many, you know? I think I just give them 4 stars because it's a classic and all and you're SUPPOSE to like it. Not that this book is like that, because I actually liked this book. I guess because I just naturally like historical books like this. Good book. A classic classic.
After reading it with my class review:
Let me start off by saying I didn't read this book twice. I stopped reading with my class around the 29th chapter. Also, I still believe that this book is just one of those classics that everyone reads and is SUPPOSED to be good. This book I realized was just okay. When i read it in 7th grade it seemed so riveting and...mature. I think that was because of the court case and Mayella talked about the rape and stuff. But then I read that part again and realized I've read better court scenes before...I can't remember where but I have. And I just think that if Lee had made the court case longer or something and hadn't ended it the way she did this classic novel would've been right on my imaginary shelf(along with The Catcher in the Rye) titled "Classic novels I actually really liked".
