It's taken me a week to finish this book because I've been in deep deep denial that this is the last story about Hardin and Tessa. But tonight I did and I'm so happy and also so sad that it's over. Anna Todd does it again. You would think that the pace would be sort of alow and at times boring because it is a retelling of the first book in Hardin's pov, but it's so much more than that. We get a closer look at Hardin and a deeper look into his mind from when he first met Tessa and it's so... captivating! It's not a straight retelling, and it gives us as readers a new perspective of the early days of Hessa, gives us old favorites in new ways that are at times more heartbreaking than the original! I quickly fell in love with Hardin in After, despite his arrogance and his overall bad attitude, and getting closer to the root of his actions was hugely rewarding to see throughout Before. That's not all we get. We also get some short stories about a few characters BEFORE we met them in After, and also a look at some we meet as Hardin and Tessa's love story plays out. I must say, out of all the short stories, Smith's may be my favorite one as well as Molly's. This book was all kinds of amazing and I so wish this wasn't the end. It has been an incredible ride seeing these characters grow and change so much from book to book, and getting a peek at their lives after the epilogue in After Ever Happy has me in happy tears. I will really miss all of these characters, but none more than Hessa.
