DNF @ 35%

It’s lame of me, but I DNF’d because this book is sweet sweet sweet (too much for me, too much inner monologues) and one of those “fade to black” kind of romances (very light on sex).

For me, I read romances not for the drama or passion, but for the depth of feeling between the characters. I was intrigued by an older couple (finally!), but was disappointed in the very mild romance. Love is not always the excited desperation in some of the insta-lust romances, but there is always *something* that draws the couple together. I couldn’t get ahold of what that draw was here. The decision to marry seemed abrupt. The inner monologues were touching, but did not help me feel any connection between them. I thought that their sex life would show the passion and depth and draw... but then the wedding night went from “Come to bed” to “And then she woke up the next day”. Meh. I felt very little for the couple so even at 35%, I easily sent this library book back.
