Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier

3.0

Gwen and Gideon have a few final tasks to complete. They have to go to a ball, they have to close the Circle of Twelve, and they have to find out what Count Saint-Germain is really up to. They have quite a lot to do while bickering like an old married couple half the time.

Gideon told Gwen that he was just playing with her feelings and didn't really love her. That started this whole roller coaster. Nothing is worse than the person you love saying they don't love you back. They pretended to love you so they could manipulate you. It was just so sad.

Honestly, I didn't really like this book as much as the other two. Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue were so interesting and I could hardly put them down. However Emerald Green I fell asleep reading it sometimes, plus it got confusing.

Spoiler First of all, why did Count Saint-Germain have to kill Gwen to become immortal again? Couldn't he have drank the potion and be immortal without killing her? That's what Gideon did and he didn't have to kill her. I was very confused as to why she had to die. I felt like there was no point in her being killed.

Spoiler Secondly, I thought that Gwen being able to talk to ghosts would have something to do with the prophesies and stuff, but it turned out to be completely irrelevant. There was no need to include this power except that it was really funny because Xeremerius, let's face it, is the best ghost/demon ever. But I thought that being able to see and talk to ghosts would come in handy, but it really didn't. It held no purpose.

Spoiler And thirdly, why couldn't Paul and Lucy travel back to the present? How did Lucas get a hold of the second chronograph? I thought Lucy and Paul still had it, there was nothing said in the book about them giving Lucas the chronograph. Unless Lucy and Paul are immortal now too because their last names are now Bernard and that's the butler's name. But it is all just very confusing.

I feel like there were a lot of questions that were unanswered and I just didn't find this one as entertaining as the other ones. I would recommend this book to people to read to finish the series, but I didn't not enjoy it very much. I felt like there were too many questions unanswered.
