Suicide Med by Freida McFadden
3.0
dark funny mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated

I'm going to be generous with my stars because I'm a huge fan of McFadden and I think it's interesting to read this early book compared to her later books and see how far shes come. I did a tandem read with Suicide Med in paperback and Dead Med in kindle/audiobook to compare the two. I don't think Suicide was bad, but it was a hot mess for sure. It definitely kept me reading and entertained! But the editing was horrible. I'm talking in one sentence the character sips her coffee, then turns around in a sentence or two later demanding to know where her coffee is that her med student was supposed to have brought her. I'm surprised something like that wasn't caught. Also one character was called Ginny in various sections, but Virginia in other sections.

Overall, very weird, yet entertaining. EYE can definitely see why McFadden edited a certain story line out of Dead Med, but it was kind of such an odd thing that it made it funny. After having read so many of McFadden's books, I feel like this is just the type of humor that she has, but I can see where a lot of people didn't like it. I enjoyed reading this early edition and seeing how it was originally published. If you are a fan, you will likely enjoy this book experience too!
