I borrowed this from the library last week and finally got around to sitting down and reading it. The premise is unique and I like the fact that even though some of the topics are triggering, Ngan didn’t shy away from the seriousness and depth of what happens to those that aren’t deemed good enough. The Paper Girls are supposed to be honored that the King wants them as their consorts but as Lei quickly finds out there is more to being a Paper Girl than just pleasing the king. The f/f romance between her and someone who I won’t name due to spoilers was well written & I like that it wasn’t automatic instant love. It’s a little bit more fast paced than I expected but I also found out this book one of a trilogy so I’m looking forward to what’s next in the rest of the books (:
