This was cute, but it could have been much better.
It took me a few chapters to get into the book, and I struggled with the pace and the plot throughout. To be honest, the plot left the book pretty early on and then only made some brief appearances for brownie points. The chapters ended too abruptly, and the timeline was weird to follow, as months seemed to have passed when it felt like weeks did instead.
Summer's grad school application was a mess. It could have been super interesting to actually see her and Aiden working on it, showing the toll a high-intensity sport has on a college student. He was struggling in the beginning, but it was too quickly set aside and "resolved". The whole deal with the teacher and the ex was very poorly executed and lame. Aiden taking the fall for it was wrong and lazy writing.
Also, the reason Summer hates hockey was badly explored, and her relationship with her dad was half-assed. I thought something much more intense and/or darker was behind it.
There were quite a few side plots going on with the secondary characters, no doubt in order to set them up for their own books, that were awkwardly introduced or mentioned throughout the story. Kian was adorable, and I don't get why everyone was so constantly dismissive of him.
Lastly, the smut was definitely smutting..
