Although the first part of this book is insightful, the author makes the same, fundamental mistake which Joseph Campbell made while developing his debunked theory of "The Monomyth" and writing "The Hero With A Thousand Faces." Namely, basing it almost entirely on the work of Freud and Jung, who in turn, developed their theories to fit the myths, legends and other stories which they felt best reflected the nature of humanity. Therefore, literally explaining stories with pseudo-scientific stories based on stories in an almost perfect circle of nonsense.

Indeed, the author's descriptions of "The Dark Masculine" or " The Light Feminine" and visa versa were a massive red flag. And when, in part 4, he began directly citing Freud's debunked pseudo-science about the unconscious, dreams and being obsessed with your mother, etc, (even describing "Jack & The Beanstalk" as a story of sexual awakening,) and described it as one of the greatest 'Scientific' discoveries of the 20th century, I finally accepted that I'd completely wasted my time.
