The book opens with a detailed description of a little brother being kidnapped and held hostage by his sister and her friends. Like terrorists, they put a bag over his head and duct tape his arms and legs to a chair. When the bag comes off, he's staring into a webcam and being humiliated by a group of older girls who go on to post the video online and email it to the entire school.
Bullying like this is what's causing kids in real life to opt for suicide. It's not something to be written about in such a light-hearted manner. Any book that normalizes such serious behavior is not one I'd recommend, especially to the target age group of 8-12.
