The wind of the world was wild, and it mocked human expectations. But it wasn't the wind that carried you. It was the flex of the wing and the spread of the feathers. It was up to you how far to fly and how to come home again.

...man, one of my favorite last lines to a book, ever. :)

overall, this series is great if you ever wanted to mentally step into a world that's basically LGBTQ How to Train Your Dragon but with birds (ALONGSIDE MY BOY JOWYN <33), epic lores, rootable brother-and-sister (...definitely something that needs to be implemented more in YA fantasy *as the main aspect*, for sure), and an inspiring theme about the power of companionship. this particular book, though, you may need some patience first.
