The Rose That Grew from Concrete by Tupac Shakur

emotional inspiring reflective

5.0

one of the most sincere and honest collections of work i’ve read in a long time. each poem at first glance, short and no more than half a page in length, with single-letter words and numbers throughout the lines, appears surface level and simple, but upon reading they are deep and meaningful pieces that each inspire different feelings and reveal brief glimpses behind the curtain into the mind of a commonly misinterpreted man.

to have a better understanding of life and its meaning than most adults at only twenty-five is ironic. to have that life snuffed out before it even reached half a century is tragic.

i blinked and it was over. there is irony in that, too.
