Looove the art style + shading— if you like how Heartstopper looks, you’ll probably like how this book looks. Also loved the little character descriptions throughout. I feel like that’s something you miss out on in graphic novels where the text is only dialogue. (Some might say that’s a characterization cop out, but I disagree, especially for the stuff included in these descriptions—it’s not stuff that would naturally come up in conversation.)
Some of the humor and content in general was a little young for me, but the target audience seems to be MS/HS, so that makes sense. I wish I would’ve found this, like, just before Gatton! Romanticized boarding school escapades ✨
I have to say I was originally super disappointed with the ending, but after I sat with it for a while, I was feeling more conflicted than just straight up disappointed. It was realistic, I suppose~
