Animal Castle Vol 1
by Xavier Dorison, Félix Delep
Seems to be a continuation of Animal Farm by George Orwell where animals are divided by who has teeth and claws and is bigger as opposed to tiny and helpless. An alley cat inadvertently ends up leading a civil disobedience movement but it’s much harder than anyone anticipated.
I’m intrigued that Gandhi’s philosophies are used as the basis for this story. Don’t often see that in graphic novels.
I also really like the protagonist, a mama kitty who’s working incredibly hard to protect her kittens. All she needs is a bit of support and she could change the world. But is anyone going to give her that help?
Art is beautiful and picturesque and the animals are often very cute.
I can’t wait to read the next volume.
