I absolutely fell in love with this story. We follow Minnie and Quinn who were both born on New Year's Day and Minnie feels like the unluckiest person because every year on New Year's Eve bad things happen to her. This all stems from the day they were born, Quinn being born first, not only getting the cash prize for the being the first baby born on the New Year, but also getting the name Minnie was supposed to have. Thirty years later, Minnie and Quinn meet for the first time at a New Year's Eve party and we follow them as they go from being friends to lovers all over the course of a new year.

I loved a lot about this book starting with Minnie and Quinn. I liked that this took place over the course of a year and we really got to see a friendship blossom before it turned romantic. Quinn had some things to work out from his childhood and we saw how that affected his ability to have healthy relationships, but we saw Minnie not wait around for him or be available for him once he got himself together. I loved Minnie and Leila friendship because Leila was very supportive and was willing to help her out whenever she needed it. Both of the main characters had issues with their mothers and that was interesting to see because those issues played parts into how they viewed what romantic relationships were supposed to look like. Minnie also had a ton of growth over the course of this book which I loved to see. The book also touched on people living with anxiety and the importance of therapy and talking through your issues and acknowledging them as well. If you couldn't tell, I loved everything about this and would highly recommend!!
