Gina Damico, author of the Croak series and "Hellhole," is back with another weird tale. "Wax" is a story that follows Poppy, a teen girl who has huge dreams that were crushed by an incident taking place before the book that involves the musical 'The Sound of Music,' and a nasty spill. In following months, Poppy hopes to recover her glory, but is disregarded by most and even bullied by some. In one bullying event that involves an eeriely life-like wax figure of Poppy, Poppy tries to learn the truth of how someone could make a figure so like Poppy it was uncanny. What she uncovers is both odd and horrifying.

"Wax" is certainly a must-read for fans of Gina Damico, as it carries all the usual humor and weirdness her readers come to expect. Newcomers to Gina's style of storytelling will find themselves reading a refreshing tale among all the retellings, remakes, and longstanding series currently flooding the YA market. "Wax" is an original work, and I hope we continue to receive more awesomely strange stories from Gina Damico!
