Pompeii by Robert Harris

Being a Classicist, you might think I would have read this a long time ago. It has been on my To-Read list for a long time and I'm definitely glad I got round to reading it. It's not wow-worthy but it does a good job of showing what Pompeii was like in AD 79 in the days before the eruption. I liked the fact they absed it around the job of an aquarius and showed the importance of the acqueducts to the Romans and tied that in with the impending eruption of Vesuvius. Added intrigue is a small hint of romance, corruption, Pliny and a missing person.
