Don't Quit the Day Job (The Annoying Hot Bosses Club, Book 1) by J.S. Cooper
Available on Kindle Unlimited!
Max Spector is a rich, grumpy, hot lawyer who can't keep an assistant. His friend/partner at his law firm bet him $1000 that he couldn't keep his next assistant for a month, AND he had to pick the next person he meets who's looking for a job. In walks Lila Haversham, blonde and bubbly aspiring actress and broke as a joke goofball. She's hired! Heavy flirting and thinly veiled come-ons begin immediately form both parties, because even though they can't stand one another's personalities, they also find each tother insanely attractive.
This book had a lot of laughs, and it was a quick read. It was pretty cute overall, but it lacked character development and depth. There was a moderate amount of spice, including at least one surprising kink.
I liked the concept of the story, but the execution missed the mark for me. I just wasn't believing the relationship. I also couldn't believe how much immediate sexual harassment was going on, especially for lawyers. Like, jeez, at least give it an hour! 😅 I thought there would be some build-up to the sexual tension at least!
Boss/Employee, Lawyer/Actress, grumpy/goofy, Billionaire, Taming the player, Instalust/Instalove, Miscommunication/Misunderstanding, HEA
3.5⭐️ 2.5🌶️
I received a review copy of this book, and these are my honest thoughts. Thank you to Hambright PR and author J.S. Cooper for the review copy!
