Sadly wasn't for me. I really struggled to get into this, and I tried to push through purely for the Coeliac rep (yay first time reading a fellow GF!). But ended up DNF as it just couldn't catch my interest. It felt really drawn out, with it going in between each character and them liking each other but for some reason neither could pursue it? I didn't really get why, other than she had a previous relationship with his brother. Surely they could just talk it out? It is obvious from the start Owen doesn't have much interest in his family, and doesn't keep in touch so would it really matter if they dated? Consenting adults and all that.
There is a lot of repetition, both characters constantly reminding about how they can't like the other, reminders of Owen's father and the towns people all being judgmental etc. It sort of all got a little dull for me, and nothing really happened for quite a while.
I also wanted more inclusion of the FMCs disability. It is a hard one to live with every day, that people often don't realise, and it does impact your daily life and relationships. Whilst it might have been included more after I DNF...I would have liked a little more of this and some plot too rather than just the back and forth lusting after one another. And oddly I just didn't really feel the chemistry at all, nor their characters. I didn't mind the FMC but the MMC was just annoying and it was uncomfortable how much he didn't want to be there and just talked down on it all. WE GET IT, YOU HATE YOUR HOME TOWN. But surely he can have other thoughts, and not be as self absorbed?
