Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King

5.0

Stephen King is at his best in his shorter works, and this collection is no exception. These are dark, frightening stories, and I enjoyed each one, painful though some were to read. In the midst of a lot of very misogynistic comments and mindsets in the SFF/horror genres, it's refreshing to read female characters written as complete human beings, warts and all. Seeing them work through unimaginable trials is rewarding in a way, in spite of (because of?) the horror they face down.
