This one was hard to review. I love a good “villain gets a second chance” book and I knew from the last book that Kate had problems and was struggling but I felt like there was definitely room for her to grow on me and I would be cheering her on.

While I loved Beck and I loved the relationship between him and Kate, I did not like Kate. Her character was so hard to love and just never grew on me. On one hand I sympathize so greatly with her; she’s been through so much and I can’t imagine the pain. But on the other hand, she’s just not a good person. She’s self centered and not kind. And while she did grow a lot in this book it almost seemed against her will a lot of the time. She did so much messed up stuff but seemed to only care because she thought Beck would react badly. I just don’t think she’s a girls girl and that’s sad. I kept wanting to root for her and felt so strongly for her situation but I just didn’t vibe with her.

I wish we could’ve had more of Beck. I think he deserved a little more focus. And I loved him.

Overall, it was very well written and I breezed through it. I love this author and will continue to read her work.
