2nd Chance [Abridged] by James Patterson

3.0

Once again Patterson had me fooled! I thought about half way through that I knew who the killer was but I was wrong. Though my original decision did turn out to be a not so great of a person so I guess I'll call that a win on my part!

I'm still not sure how I feel about mystery novels on a whole yet. I mean, I really like tv shows like Women's Murder Club, Rizzoli and Isles, Castle, even Law and Order, but as far as reading them goes... I just waffle on the whole subject. Some times I really like the book and I'm super into it. Other times I'm going "Gosh, why isn't this over yet!" I guess the beginnings are the hardest part. I want to know who the killer is, right now.

I really enjoyed getting to see inside the other women's lives this time around. I feel like I know Claire, Jill, and Cindy a bit better than I had in the last book. Seeing their personal lives and how they struggle with what's going on makes it a bit easier to understand them and their connection to Lindsay.

Personally, dealing with Lindsay's father issues (which come up around mid-novel mind you!) was a bit much for me. It's not something that I like to read about because I generally read to escape into another world so when I can connect that much with a characters life, I dislike the feeling of it.

All-in-all it's a pretty okay book. It took me about three days to get through it which is much longer than it would normally take me to read my usual fantasy novels. I guess maybe I can't judge this fairly because it's not what I usually read?
