I've been a fan of Moning's romance novels for quite awhile. When I first read on her website what the Fever series was about and how it differed from her past books, I was a little worried, but curious nonetheless. As it turns out, this series has me so much more invested in the characters than her Highlander series!
Faefever is the third book in the Fever series, and it definitely reads like it. I've seen some other reviews that criticize this installment for being too slow with not enough character development and having a terrible ending. Sure, the ending is hard to read and come to grips with, especially since I feel so strongly for the main character, Mac! It's dark, depressing, and shocking. But Moning had pre-warned her avid readers of this. I trust her enough that I know she wouldn't have put Mac through what she did if there wasn't a purpose. Moning doesn't write shock just for the sake of it. Everything has a place in the grand scheme of her story.
No, Faefever isn't as action packed as the first two books in the series, but alot still happened. So much that I'm still just as eager for the last two books as I was for each book before it.
If you have already read Darkfever and Bloodfever, love the story, and the anticipation of the next book, pick it up! If you're one of those people who just can't stand cliffhangers, I would recommend waiting until the remaining books have been published and then picking up with the story again. Either way, the book is much more than just filler as some have said!
