Reader beware: GRRM’s misogyny and disdain/hatred of women are on full display in this book. Rape and other acts of sexual violence towards women are mentioned in varying degrees of detail in very nearly every chapter.
It’s a shame that the fantastic prose of this book is overshadowed by a complete lack of plot. There is only one noteworthy plot point in this book, and it occurs 95% of the way through the story.
The only reason I didn’t DNF out of sheer boredom is because there’s only one book left in the series.
