So I bought this book on a complete whim. It was part of Amazon Primes' first reads program. Basically, every month you get to choose one free book out of five or six books if you have Amazon Prime. I just randomly chose this book because I didn’t want to miss my chance at a free book and I liked the cover. And boy, I am so glad I chose this book. It’s my second five-star book of the year. I certainly didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. I haven’t had the best of luck with thriller books. There’s been a few I like but I’ve also been burned by a few as well.

Mia was seriously one of the best main characters I’ve ever read about. It was like I was reading a book about myself except for all the events that happening to her. She’s a girl who considered herself invisible. She just wants to keep working at the library and hang out with her best friends. Which is all I ask for in life but add being with my boyfriend and son. It’s all any bookworm can ask for really.

I do want to say that reviewing thrillers is so hard because you can't say too much or else you’d give something important away. I don’t like to spoil books for other people. So reviewing this book is a little tricky but what I can say is that this book was written super well. It balanced past to present well and not in a way that is jarring. The info dumping was done correctly. There wasn't too much but also we got just enough information for the story to make sense. It also felt organic to the story too.

Overall, this was an incredible book. I didn’t know what I was going to get with this book as I didn’t even read the synopsis but I’m really glad I picked it up. Thriller is a genre I don't read a whole lot, same with horror. Which is weird because it’s one of my favorite genres. I will be picking up more thriller books in the future, especially by this author.
