The Psychology of Time Travel by Kate Mascarenhas
5.0
After I finished this book, I went on to find out more about the author. I don’t usually do this just because I don’t have a habit of following authors & their books. But The Psychology of Time Travel is so well written I just wanted to know more about it & it’s creator. There are a handful of reasons why I find this book so lovely:
1. The meticulous planning of this book cover; I am a designer myself, I thoroughly love hidden meanings behind beautiful things. This cover tells you the backstory of the storyline. It features a rabbit (The first living thing to time travel), the 5 amazing Scientists behind it, DNA (psychology aspect) and a gun to represent the murder that takes place.
2. Comfort zone; I appreciate knowing the rough background of the author because as I read the book and begin my journey with it, I feel safe & can tell that Kate Mascarenhas knows what she’s getting into. She sets a character’s backstory based off of her own. She introduces little bits of psychology facts while marrying it with the time travel theme. Her attention to detail regarding the characters & environment is simply *french kiss* amazing & very well thought through. Plus! To know this is Kate’s debut novel, I want to keep supporting her.
3. The theme; I love crime & mystery stories. I love time travel as well. I also remember telling my friends that my perfect crime book would be one involving time travel. Here we are, reading this book! My heart is so full, thank you Kate Mascarenhas! But you may wonder why mix crime with time travel? So many possible loopholes, right? That’s just how it is, but this book goes full circle. That’s where the perfection comes. I love the level of mystery this theme can go; peak curiosity. You just can’t help but to pick this up yourself & be immersed in this wonderful book.
