A light and enjoyable romp of a regency romance. I really enjoyed the characters, particularly protagonists Simon and Daphne. The character building with Simon in the first half was particularly well done. There are historical inaccuracies that I can’t help but find glaring—there’s no question this book was written both well after regency period (in the 90s) but also contains some sexism and questionable sexual situations that feel dated given our healthier standards today around consent etc. Overall I look forward to watching the show and continuing the series—I hear this book one is the weakest in the series, so that’s promising.
