I really liked this book. I think the hard thing about writing a prequel series that takes place thousands of years before the main series but also technically somehow a little bit at the same time. I think JLA does a good job at building some suspense to the final climax despite all of us already knowing how Sera and Ash’s story is supposed to end to reach current day.
And as much as I love Sera and Ash, and think this book in particular needed most of the length it has, I wouldn’t say I agree that the series needed to be as long as it was (at least in terms of page length). I think it often led to some irritation at Sera’s thoughts because it could feel very repetitive at times, and is mainly why this wasn’t a 5 star read. That being said, I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for 2025!
