Snow in May by Kseniya Melnik

This was a read from the Shelterbox bookclub. It wasn't the one I voted for but I'm so glad it won, otherwise it would have remained an undiscovered gem (for me at least). I'm not normally a short story fan, but these tales charmed me. These vignettes of life in Magadan drew me in, depicting ways of life that seemed both familiar and exotic at the same time. I loved the way characters would reappear, sometimes decades later, in someone else's story. I'm sure I missed a few recurring characters and will revisit to track the character trees in more detail.
