Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco
5.0

I don't even know where to start. Kerri Maniscalco, you did it again. It was giving Bridgerton and, if I'm being horribly honest, I'm not that bitch. But, I knew immediately this was going to be a 5 star read, no matter what the ending ended up being. The plot, the twist, THE THRILL. I went through every emotion known to mankind while bingeing this masterpiece. The frustration for characters acting out of character, the shock of plot twists, the anxiety sweats...

I knew from The Kingdom of the Wicked series that attention to detail was a must. Nothing was insignificant. At times, I was so fucking confused. I came up with my own theories - some correct, some HORRIBLY incorrect. These are the books I love.

One thing I will say is it's refreshing to read a fantasy book that is seemingly centered around the MMC and not entirely the common trope of FMC centered, although she is very much a part of the story and plot don't get me wrong. For me, it didn't make me hate the FMC. It's nice to see a narrative that isn't HER winning a trial, isn't HER "saving her kingdom," isn't HER being the center of attention. I love a strong female lead, but they can get repetitive.

In the day and a half that I continually read this book, I debriefed my husband probably half a dozen times, much to his amusement. I haven't done that in a VERY long time. I haven't had this much fun in even longer. With that, I thank you, Ms. Maniscalco. Now, to deep dive into the next. See you on the other side. ✌🏻
