A girl made of air benefits from a storytelling method of letters, newspaper articles and stories.
We follow our nameless heroine as she navigates life through the circus, all while trying to find someone from her past.
It was masterfully plotted, and I love the rich environments described (the circus seemed like a place full of dreams). The writing was wonderfully flowery, and didn’t give me a headache, like other flowery writing does.
From Big Gen to Fausto to Marina and Manu. Even to Serendipity Wilson, these characters were all so fleshed out. You could feel their convictions and how well they worked.
A Girl Made Of Air is one of my favourite reads of 2022, and a light and airy way to end a reading slump.
