** Thank you Tracie Delaney for the ARC **

“The Devil’s Torment” is the second book in the “De Vil Dynasty” series and I knew right away this would be an awesome book! In the first book of the series we see a glimpse of Victoria and how amazing she is. She’s a spitball of fire, opinionated, lively, but her sister’s murder changes some of that. Victoria is sure to blame Nicholas for the murder and while Nicholas is innocent and doing anything, he can to find the person responsible, both can’t avoid throwing daggers at each other.

Victoria was once in love with Nicholas, but now she has second thoughts about her feelings, Nicholas on the other hand, never once thought to look twice at Victoria, he wanted a docile wife, but being with Victoria and how she acts makes his heart swell with pride and with joy.

Victoria is a little different from the first book, she is more raw. She shares a lot of her thoughts about herself never being good enough for her family, always living in the shadows of her sister, whom she adores! The way she talked about herself and the experience she had with s*x was very emotional. Like she felt she wasn’t worth the time or effort to make her happy in bed. I am very happy that we keep having this debate in books about female pleasure because it is something that still needs to be addressed. How many times the woman thinks it’s her fault and gets to be blamed for not having the pleasure we picture in our collective imaginary. It was amazing to witness Nicholas not doing anything too special for her to achieve that pleasure, he just explored her body and made sure to take his time and not rush their intimacy.

Meanwhile, Nicholas is the perfect man to be with Victoria. He is fiercely protective of her and as soon as he realises that Vic is the woman of his dreams, he becomes a softie for her. She challenges him and while he thought he’d hate a wife like that, but as it turns, Nicholas loves to tango with danger. He sees how much she struggles within, with her family and her ambitions, but still keeps fighting to be happy. Nicholas is a really great main character, he really goes all alpha-male on the guys that have either hurt Vic or made her feel less and those scenes are very swoony. Also, I loved that Nicholas fought to communicate and have honesty in their relationship. We could see he’d be very dismissive with Beth but as Vic is also very honest and doesn’t bite back, he allows their relationship to have vulnerabilities and then tries to make all doubts Vic has about her go away.

“The Devil’s Torment” was really an incredible book. It’s always hard to describe why I love books, but there are things we know and sense when reading and I feel like no matter how many words I write, “The Devil’s Torment” needs to be felt. It just touches all the right spots and it’s something very close to a perfect book.

I am soo looking forward the next book because something tells me the next MC and FMC will be a riot and the next FMC does promise to be even more trouble than Vic!
