Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand by Carrie Vaughn

3.0

I wanted to love this book, because I liked the first 4 books so much! I will read book 6, and hope it gets better, if not, I may not continue with the series. Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand is the 5th book in the Kitty Norville series. Kitty & Ben have decided to elope to Vegas, they're "in love" and going to get married.

First reason for my disappointment in this book, if you are "so in love" that you want to get married, why spend the majority of the book doing your own thing, not spending any time together? Why is Kitty fantasizing about another man/lycanthrope? Why is every man she comes in contact with super sexy?

Second disappointment...Kitty is marrying a werewolf hunter, she is friends with a werewolf hunter, she has dealt with guns. However, there is a gun show in the hotel they are staying in, and suddenly Kitty is desperately anti-gun! There's a whole diatribe about how much Kitty doesn't like guns, they are so bad, there are all these people in the hotel and she doesn't know which ones are dangerous because they are carrying a gun! It seemed like the author was forcing her views on guns into the story. If you don't like guns, fine. If you are against people carrying them, fine. But don't go on a rant about them and then use them to save your character at the end of the story!

I will read the next book, and hope that it's better.
