Hotel Magnifique
by Emily J. Taylor
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the magical aspects of this book. I haven't read The Night Circus but I have read Caraval and it does give similar vibes. I liked the mystery of how the Hotel works, who doesn't want to visit a Hotel that is full of magic and changes location every night.
I enjoyed the characters in this book for the most part but as a lot of characters had no memory of before the hotel, it made it slightly hard to flesh them out. I feel like a downside of this book is the characters don't feel like real people. They don't have enough flaws and most are easily defined as "good" or "bad". Which isn't necessarily an issue but does make the characters appear a bit flat.
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy books like The Night Circus and Caraval, or who generally like secretive magic themes in their books!
