The Beach At Summerly by Beatriz Williams
4.0
4.5 stars
Okay, so I really enjoy Beatriz Williams's historical fiction novels (and most historical fiction)! I have read almost all of them. But, this one was about an era I knew little about - post-WWII to the mid-1950s. The book was primarily based on an island in Long Island Sound where the rich vacation during the summer. Of course, there is mystery and drama happening on the island - CIA and FBI drama!!
I loved that the main character Emilia AKA Cricket was fully thought out and developed. She was an interesting character as she was a native islander who was friends with the rich boys who her dad worked for. Such a complex ball of life!
The story takes some unexpected twists and turns but totally delivers. For the last hundred pages or so, I could NOT stop reading!! It was that good!
Highly RECOMMEND
