Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
5.0

DC are just really ramping up the pressure on Marvel this year. First the most awesome Wonder Woman movie out there, followed up by this excellent novel by YA author Leigh Bardugo. I can't wait for the Batman, Catwoman and Superman novels in the same vein, also written by popular YA authors. It could be time for Marvel to up their game.
What I really enjoyed about this novel is that it could be considered a pre-lude to the film without actually paying homage to it. Bardugo's Wonder Woman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman are both extremely strong, honourable women who want to do what is right for the world putting others above themselves and doing what is right, even if it seems wrong.
This is where Diana steps into her birthright and becomes the woman we know her to be. Well written and bringing Diana into the modern age of this world, Bardugo introduces us to someone really special who we can't help but love and cheer on in her journey. Alia, a mortal, is a believable character for Diana to team up with and the friendship that grows from this adventure is quite lovely to watch.
This book is great for fans of Leigh Bardugo, fans of Wonder Woman and the fans of the DC Universe.
